Pot On Pottery

Jenny Knight: Over the past 20 years I have been making my own pottery. I went to Lemington spa collage for 2 years, then continuing on to Colchester institute to do a three year ceramics course. After leaving Colchester I moved to France and worked in a pottery. I also spent some time in France doing local markets, selling painted enamel pots. When I returned to England, I worked at Wichford pottery for 2 years. Having left there, as I started a family and I have continued making pottery. Most of my pottery is thrown on the wheel, out of earthenware clay. I mainly make domestic ware: mugs, bowls, expresso cups ect. I also make larger platters, with more detailed artwork. All my pottery is brightly coloured and decorated by hand, in an old traditional way called scraffito. The inspiration for my designs come from the countryside around me. Many people comment on how jolly and happy my pots are. I have had a stall at Glastonbury festival for the past 17 years, in the green-fields and it has been very successful. Also I sell my work at Wichford pottery: octogen, Stratford-upon-avon: Halls croft, known as the Arter, Moreton Gallery and other places.
